Join the Being Peace team as we celebrate crossing the finish line of our public fundraising campaign to found a Plum Village Centre in the UK.

We will come together in mindfulness, gratitude, togetherness and joy, offering a glimpse of what the Being Peace Centre can bring to our Sangha.

We will invite attendees throughout the evening to share from the heart poems, songs, art and other expressions of joy, so that we can enjoy feeling ourselves as one sangha river together..

5pm – 6pm: For those who can join early, we invite you to tune in to enjoy some pre-recorded highlights from our fundraising event in March 2023.

Hear personal messages, stories, songs and sharings from our friends Joan Halifax, Martha Tilston, Krista Tippett, Lama Rod Owens, Jo Confino & Brother Phap Huu, Charles Eisenstein & Gabi Enache, Betsy Rose and Sibling Yonten.

6pm: Live programme begins

The programme will include brief guided meditation on the hour and a short update from the Being Peace project team on different theme in each hour slot. We expect to follow approximately the following schedule:

6pm – 7pm: Guided meditation ~ Welcome ~ Thây and the roots of Being Peace ~ comedy skit from Plum Village UK Monastics ~ “The journey this year” ~ short offerings from community members

7pm – 8pm: Breathing break ~ live sharing from Kaira Jewel ~ fireside chat with Christiana Figueres ~ “Where we are now” project update ~ contributions from community members

8pm – 9pm: Guided meditation ~ message from Larry & Peggy Ward ~ UK Dharma Teachers’ inspirations for Being Peace ~ “Being Peace road ahead” ~ sharings from community members ~ Plum Village Inter-Hamlet Choir

Christiana Figueres

LIVE

Christiana Figueres is an internationally recognized leader on global climate change. She was Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) 2010-2016. Christiana is closely connected to the Plum Village practice.

Kaira Jewel Lingo

Kaira Jewel Lingo is a much-loved Dharma teacher who has been practicing mindfulness since 1997. She lived as an ordained nun for 15 years, during which time she trained closely with her teacher, Venerable Thich Nhat Hanh.

Peggy & Larry Ward

Larry Ward, a senior teacher in the Plum Village tradition, is the author of America’s Racial Karma and co-author of Love’s Garden with his wife, Peggy. He integrates mindfulness, neuroscience, and trauma healing through the Lotus Institute.

Peggy Rowe-Ward, EdD, co-author of Love’s Garden, uses movement, art, and writing to help students discover their authentic selves. She offers consultations focused on spiritual direction and dreamwork.
