We know that we are of the nature to grow old and to die. There is no way to escape ageing and death. When that time comes, the world will continue as before, slightly changed. We will no longer be present in our physical form, but our actions and their consequences will live on.

In life, we can choose to nourish that which sustains and supports beauty, peace and happiness in the world. In death, we have the opportunity to do the same. Some of us have been blessed to live and grow up in the UK during a time of unprecedented prosperity, free from war or disaster, and may be in a position where we are able to offer gifts in our will. We can choose to nourish that which is important to us – which plants or gardens to fertilise as our bodies fade away.

Consider Supporting Being Peace

As a charitable organisation, Being Peace relies on donations, and will continue to do so in the future. More resources mean that more can be achieved and retreat prices can be lower, or free to those who need it. Legacy donations can make a substantial contribution to the long-term success of this project – allowing so many more people to experience the transformation and healing of Plum Village mindfulness. We would be honoured if you would consider leaving a gift in your will and you may find such generosity benefits yourself as well, as it did Marcus. Listen to his moving story in the video above.

How to Leave a Legacy Gift

If you would like to leave a legacy gift, you can do that at the time of writing your will by including text along the lines of our sample clauses. Alternatively, if you have already made a will, you can amend it by adding a codicil. We suggest that you take appropriate advice to make sure that your will is legally watertight.

If you would like to talk to a member of the team, to ask questions etc. or inform us of a legacy gift, please contact beingpeace@plumvillage.uk. You can view our legacy information pack here.

Not the right moment to leave a Legacy Gift, or could contribute right away?

You might wish to consider offering a friendly, interest-free loan for a period of 5-10 years. This is a fantastic way to support the project as it means that money can be used straight away as seed money to purchase a wonderful property at this crucial juncture in the project. Such funds could be freed up  from other holdings or investments and put to work generating positive impact for generations to come.

We are hoping that a significant portion of our target will be lent by generous friends who are fortunate enough to be able to offer such gifts. If you’d like to request more information or to view a sample contract, please email fundraising@plumvillage.uk.
