This week, we would like to share with you three short stories and messages of support from our Community Members and Being Peace Friends: Jan, Christiana and Avni, who offer their personal experience of how Thay’s teachings and Plum Village practice touched their lives and in what ways the Being Peace Practice Centre will benefit so many people in the UK. 

Christiana Figueres

Christiana Figueres, friend of the Plum Village UK Sangha, leader of the the UN Paris Agreement on Climate Change and co-author of ‘The Future We Choose: The Stubborn Optimist’s Guide to the Climate Crisis’:  

‘The Practice Centre in the UK will allow [us] to bring Home closer to home (…), to learn how to be more resilient internally so that we can bring this resilience to our world that deeply and urgently needs it.’


Avni Soochak from Family Sangha, Colours of Compassion Sangha and Heart of London Sangha: 

‘I come from a Jain and Hindu background and what I love about Thay’s teachings is that I don’t need to reject that. In fact, I actually reconnected to my roots, feel proud about my roots, thanks to Thay’s teachings. 

Having the practice centre in the UK would open that space for other people to embrace their own background they may have ignored or forgotten.
